It's the end of another fiscal year and there have been some significant accomplishments in the Administration and Finance Division.  Some highlights of those accomplishments are

  • Completed and received approval from Board of Regents for the Master Plan for University of Houston-Victoria

  • Completed the Administration and Finance Division audit with no major discrepancies noted.

  • Improved Administration and Finance Division website functionality and design

  • Online tuition and book loans became available to students in Spring, 2004.

  • The University was awarded a Silver Safety Award by the State Office of Risk Management.

  • Upgraded air conditioning monitoring system to a more compatible system that will accept the increase brought on by the Addition of the West building.  This also permits technicians to change temperatures and monitor equipment from remote locations, (home) better serving the university.  (Metasys - Johnson Controls)

  • Management conversion (property) to PeopleSoft.

  • Installed stand-alone a/c unit in server room to lengthen life of equipment and re-routed heat removed

  • Converted Servers to emergency power to permit operation during outage and connected Biology Lab to emergency generator preserving samples and projects.

  • Converted former classroom 215 to an ITV room

  • Provided a smooth transition from PeopleSoft 7.5 to PeopleSoft 8.4 on July 14, 2004

As you all know, the remodeling of the University West building has finally been completed with landscaping added in August.

The University's Legislative Appropriations Request (LAR) has been completed for Fiscal Years 2005 and 2007.  Three new Tuition Revenue Bond items have been requested including 1) a $15 million request to construct a building at the Sugar Land campus, 2) a $4.02 million for a regional economic development building which would house SBDC, Regional Outreach's Economic and Professional Development center and other community entities, and 3) a $5.336 million request to construct a new facility for student and administrative support services.  There are also three exceptional item requests including continued funding for Regional Outreach, Nursing Program Development, and a Center for Mexican-American Studies.

Facilities Services

Facilities Services is experiencing some changes in personnel.   We wish Roy Cook an enjoyable retirement.   Roy had been with the University for 5 years as a Grounds Supervisor.  Welcome aboard to Justin Kutzer assumed the Grounds Supervisor position.   Gwen has accepted a position as the Custodial Supervisor with VISD.   We wish Gwen McDonald luck in her new position.  We will miss both Roy and Gwen.

Remodeling of the Outreach Building is 50% complete.   Finish, A/C, masonry, and carpet work remains.   The unofficial completion date is September 20th.

Facilities personnel are involved in converting classrooms UW 203 & 205 to Audio visual classrooms.
