A newsletter from the Administration and Finance Division

Briefly from the VP

The Division of Administration and Finance is constantly reviewing business processes to determine ways to improve university operations.  Some improvements on the horizon are discussed below.

Information Technology will be busy installing Windows 2000 on everyone's computer.  This will hopefully stop computers from locking up and manage programs better.

Web-based e-mail is coming which will allow you to access your e-mail from any  computer using your web browser.  You will be able to send and receive e-mail as if you are working from your workstation.

For more information regarding Windows 2000 or web-based e-mail, contact Joe Ferguson in the Information Technology Department.

Facilities is in the process of installing MP2 which is a work order request system.  This system will allow you to submit a work order, receive confirmation of the work order and track the progress of the work order through completion.

For more information regarding MP2, contact Michael Ruland in the Facilities Services Department.

Business Services and Finance Departments are looking at simplifying the ProCard system to allow easier processing of purchases and vouchers.  Hopefully this will reduce the number

of vouchers that need inputting into the PeopleSoft system.

For more information regarding the ProCard system, contact Gregory Fanelli in the Business Services Department.

News from Purchasing

Did you know we have a new and improved Purchasing website? Take a look at http://www.uhv.edu/fin/
purchasing/home.htm

Also, thanks to House Bill 1545, Purchasing will be changing the way it does business. Best value consideration instead of lowest cost will now play a primary role in larger purchase order awards. Also, the President's Cabinet will be asked to approve increasing departmental purchasing limits to allow for more departmental flexibility and (hopefully) less red tape.
