Briefly
from the VP
This
newsletter is published by the various departments of Administration
and Finance to disseminate information which effect faculty, staff and
students of the University. Though the Human Resources
Department reports to the President, information regarding Human Resources
will continue to be published in this newsletter. Feedback
regarding the newsletter may be submitted to Karen Boldt at boldtk@uhv.edu.
Interviews
for the Facilities Director position have been completed. Mr.
Michael Ruland has accepted the position and will begin the third week of
February. Mike has 8 years experience in the facilities
management at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and 17 years
experience in facility maintenance. He holds licenses in
heating, air conditioning and refrigeration and is a master plumber.
He also holds two Associates of Applied Science degrees and a Bachelor of
Applied Arts & Sciences degree in management. He is looking
forward to relocating from Tulia to warmer weather in Victoria.
Toni Wyer, the
Budget Officer, has moved into the interim Comptroller position.
Toni, a CPA, has held past positions as Jackson County Treasurer and UHV
Financial Aid Officer. She has been employed by the University for 6
years.
Debbie Jozwiak, the Accounts Payable Supervisor, has taken over the
position of interim Budget Officer. Debbie has held past positions
as Finance Director, City of Gonzales and as an accountant in a financial
institution. She has been employed by the University for 8 years.

New Communication System - EnGenius Portable Phone System
The portable phone system should be in operation by end of February, 2001.
Help Desk Assistants will be able to
maintain phone contact by portable phone rather than tying up phones
within other departments.
