System-Wide
Fringe Benefit Program--Those individuals on ORP will have fewer
vendors to choose from, originally 39 vendors to 16 vendors.
The System will grandfather those who are currently using vendors
which will be eliminated.
The
Facilities Manager job was reclassified to Facilities
Director. The vacancy notice was posted and interviews should
begin within the next few weeks. We hope to fill the position
by 02/01/01.
Policies
and Procedures
The
policy which governs the creation, revision, and cancellation of
policies has been revised to include a 20-day campus-wide review
period. Please review the draft policy which is posted on the
web at http://www.vic.
uh.edu/fin/policy/index.htm.

Up" at UHV from Facilities Department
Center for Children repairs to the
building caused by bathroom flooding should be completed by January
12th. After that we will have the facility appraised and sell
it. Head Start has sent a letter of intent wanting to purchase
the facility as part of their expansion.

Floors are being waxed in both the
University Center and West buildings with an estimated completion
date of January 15th.
Carpets will be cleaned by in-house
personnel starting at the beginning of January.
One-Time
Funding
The Budget Office has provided an
update regarding the one-time funding request which were approved on
July 26, 2000. Funding requested was $688,000 and $601,000 was
approved. To date $391,000 has been spent or encumbered from
non-appropriated funds and $170,000 from appropriated funds.
Two issues on the one-time funding list are also in Tuition Revenue
Bond requests at the State legislature. These are replacing
the air conditioning unit and improvements and the repair of the
cracked facade on the University West Building.
FY2002
Budget
The budget
process for FY02 will begin soon. mark your calendars now for
budget hearings to be held April 16 &17. As of December
31, 2000, 1/3 of the FY01 budget year has been completed.
There will be a few exceptions but as a whole, your department
should reflect a budget balance available of 2/3 of the total
approved budget. Please call the Budget Office, ext. 815, if
you have any questions regarding your current budget.
