Search for Classes
Searching for classes allows you to specify criteria, conduct a search, and receive limited responses. Sound a little intimidating? Let’s consider an example.

Say you want to take MGT 6351, in SugarLand, face-to-face. That’s your criteria. Basically, you enter the search criteria that reflects the class you want to take, and PeopleSoft will display any results (classes) that match your criteria. If no classes meet your criteria, you may need to broaden your search.

So, searching for classes is ideal when you know what classes you’re looking for or have other criteria (like day or location) in mind.

Browse Catalog
Browsing the catalog allows you to look through all of the courses available in a given semester.

So, if you’re an English major and need to take a humanities course, you can find out what humanities courses are being offered for the semester. Or, if you know you need to take Classical Greece and Rome but can’t remember the course number, browsing the catalog will allow you to find the course.

So, browsing the catalog comes in handy when you want to find out what courses are being offered at the university or within a certain discipline, like English.


Both searching strategies are useful, and you can learn just one strategy or both strategies, depending upon your needs.
