VOICE - Victoria Online Initial Certification for Educators
Rotation and Course Descriptions
Students enrolling in the VOICE program will select six of the
eight classes listed below depending on whether they choose to do
an internship or practice teaching. Those who have full-time teaching
positions in accredited Texas schools will take C&I 6316 and C&I
6317. Those who choose to practice teach will take C&I 6318 and
C&I 6319. C&I 6318 must be taken prior to enrollment in C&I 6319.
- Fall
- C&I 6320 Models of Teaching
- Formulation and implementation of various teaching
strategies supported by current research theory and
practice to promote learning in EC-12 classrooms
- C&I 6316 Applications of Educational Roles & Responsibilities
I
- This course is designed to provide interns with
the skills needed to fulfill their professional roles
and responsibilities in an accredited school setting.
OR
- C&I 6318 Practicum Seminar
- This course provides an understanding of the complex
and dynamic nature of teaching.
- Spring
- C&I 6312 Human Development & Learning
- Theoretical study of the social, emotional, physical
and intellectual development of children and adolescents
as they apply to learning experiences in the classroom.
- C&I 6317 Applications of Educational Roles & Responsibilities
II
- This course is designed to provide interns with
the skills needed to fulfill their professional roles
and responsibilities in an accredited school setting.
OR
- C&I 6319 Practicum in Teaching
- The Practicum in Teaching is supported by current
research practices in a public school or TEA accredited
private school and guided by a mentor teacher.
- Summer
- C&I 6314 Classroom Practice, Process, & Procedure
- Formulation and implementation of the essential
knowledge and skills necessary for becoming a professional
educator. Content includes theories of curriculum development,
instructional technology, and classroom management.
- FED 6323 Cultural & Social Foundations of American Education
- Analysis of social, political and economic forces
that impact education in the United States. (Formerly:
Cultural Foundations of American Education.)
