Dean’s Welcome

Dean LittonHello and welcome to the internet home page of the School of Education& Human Development at the University of Houston- Victoria. From our beginnings in 1973 this School has a long and rich tradition in the preparation of education professionals and human service personnel.

The School of Education & Human Development offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees. The undergraduate degree is for those seeking elementary, middle and secondary teaching careers or a career in health studies as a public health educator.

In addition we offer graduate studies in Curriculum and Instruction (Literacy Studies, Educational Technology, Elementary Mathematics Education, Elementary Science Education and Secondary Education), Special Education (Applied Behavior Analysis, Autism and Education Diagnostician), Educational Administration (Educational Leadership and Administration & Supervision), Counselor Education (Professional School Counseling, Community/Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Student Affairs & College Counseling) and Adult and Higher Education (Higher Education, Adult Education and a certificate in Professional Coaching).

Specific graduate degrees can lead to Professional TExES certifications in the following areas, Educational Diagnostician, Master Mathematics Teacher, Reading Specialist, Master Reading Teacher, School Principal, School Superintendent and School Counselor. Our graduate level programs in Counseling can also lead to certification as a Licensed Professional Counselor.

We hope that you will explore all the facets of the many programs offered in our school. As you review information about our programs, we believe that you will find evidence of a commitment to a caring environment for our students and an emphasis on quality education that fully prepares our graduates for their chosen professions. Students can expect engaging and challenging instruction from experienced faculty scholars.
