Two of the many advantages of preparing for Texas teacher certification through the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Houston-Victoria are the support of our Center for Academic Excellence and access to practice tests for the TExES. The Center for Academic Excellence will help you prepare for the TExES with group and individual study sessions.
When you feel that you are ready, you can arrange to take the official practice test for the area in which you want to be certified. You can take the practice tests as many times as you need to. SEHD has purchased practice tests for all of the areas in which we prepare students for certification. A grade of 80 or better is required before a bar code will be issued for the official TExES exam.
Students in the Victoria area can contact the Academic Center to set up an appointment to take their tests. Information regarding Academic Center testing services is available online at http://www.uhv.edu/ac/testing/practice.asp.
Students in the Katy and Sugar Land areas can contact Kathleen Briggs for testing at the UH System at Cinco Ranch. Kathleen can be reached by email at briggsk@uhv.edu or by telephone at (832) 842-2852.
