Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies
Mission
The mission of the Curriculum and Instruction undergraduate programs
is to prepare exemplary educators who possess and demonstrate the
content, pedagogical, and professional knowledge, skills, strategies,
and dispositions necessary to develop learners in our culturally
diverse society.
Generalist Certification
The School of Education and Human Development offers the Bachelor
of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies to students who wish to
teach children from early childhood to eighth grade. UHV chose to
offer generalist certification, which gives our graduates more versatility
as it allows them to teach all of the subjects in self-contained
classrooms. Those who wish to become certified in other areas may
do so in conjunction with or after obtaining initial teacher certification.
Special Education certification may be pursued while in the BSIS
program or added later.
