Student Teachers from other colleges or universities
The UHV School of Education and Human Development welcomes you to perform your student teaching field experience in the UHV service area if your parent certification institution does not provide a Student Teacher Supervisor in the location where you want to perform your student teaching. There are several options that allow this service to occur and you will have to select the option that is acceptable and approved by your parent certification institution:
- You may register as a University of Houston Victoria student and take the UHV 9 hours of student teaching and then transfer those hours back to your parent university.
- You may register as a University of Houston Victoria student and take the UHV 6 hours of student teaching field experience supervision and then transfer these 6 hours back to your parent university. You will register for your parent institution’s student teaching seminar course.
- You may remain a student at your parent university and register for that university’s student teaching courses.
- For a registration fee of $50.00 and a supervision fee of $600.00, the University of Houston Victoria School of Education and Human Development will provide a supervisor that will supervise your student teaching field experience.
- You or your parent institution must make placement arrangements and provide the UHV Director of Field Based Experience with the names and contact information of your placement school, mentor teacher(s), and school principal.
- At the end of the semester the UHV supervisor assigned to you will provide to the UHV Director of Field Based Experiences all evaluation documents and a grade for your performance. This information will then be passed on to the Director of Field Based Experiences at your parent institution.
