Admission to Student Teaching

Application for Student Teaching

All applications for student teaching regardless of area must be returned to Teacher Education Records Office by March 1 for placement during subsequent fall semester and by September 15 for the subsequent spring semester.

Supervision Schedule

The length of time to successfully complete the student teaching requirement is 60 consecutive days (12 weeks). After 2 days of absence due to illness during this time period the student teacher must make up the days missed immediately at the end of the 60th day time period. Attending Professional Seminars does not count as part of the 60 days. A maximum of 3 teacher in-service or workshops with the approval of the Director of Field Experiences count as part of the 60 days but absences because of illness over two days, holidays, and Fall or Spring Breaks do not. Absences for other reasons than illness without approval of Mentor Teacher, University Supervisor, and Director of Field Experiences may result in a failing grade or expulsion from the Student Teaching Program!
