Access to Success is predominantly a financial assistance program for school district employees who meet program criteria (See Eligibility Requirements). This program is unique to UHV; therefore students who enroll in the program must complete their program of study at the University of Houston-Victoria. Students who are admitted to the Access to Success Program follow the same degree plans as other School of Education & Human Development students. Benefits for Access to Success students include scholarships for tuition, fees, and books. Evening course offerings and tutoring through the Center for Academic Excellence are also available. All applications for Access to Success scholarships must go through the Office of Financial Aid at UHV in Victoria.
The Access to Success Program is designed for students who are seeking a Bachelor's Degree with teaching certification through UHV. Students may be enrolled through the School of Education & Human Development for either a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies in Early School Education or a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies in Middle School Education. Students may also enroll through the School of Arts and Sciences or through the School of Business to obtain a secondary teaching certification. In addition to the above certifications, students may pursue certification in Special Education and English as a Second language.

Financial Need
Access to Success Scholarships for Tuition and Fees will be awarded based on financial qualifications and fund availability. A student's adjusted gross income must fall below the amount listed in Table 1. Maximum adjusted gross income levels are based on a percentage (20%) higher than the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board's (THECB) Educational Aide Exemption maximum adjusted gross income. Students who do not qualify under the Adjusted Gross Income of THECB may qualify for scholarships from the Access to Success Program for tuition and fees. Students must fill out financial aid forms outlined above under the section titled ?Access to Success Eligibility Requirements? in order to be considered for scholarships.

Table 2 indicates the maximum number of classes per semester for which a student can receive financial assistance under the Access to Success program. Table 2 also indicates the maximum amount of money a student can receive for books each semester. The student must finance on their own any classes taken beyond the maximum number of classes covered by the Access to Success Scholarships. The maximum number of hours per semester is already determined by the School of Education and Human Development so please contact your advisor for additional information regarding number of hours taken per semester.

Table 3 indicates the amount of financial incentive a student can receive per semester for seeking certification in Math or Science, areas of critical need. These incentives will be provided each semester the student is enrolled in the Access to Success program while seeking certification in Math or Science.
