Degree Requirements
The following requirements apply to all candidates for the Bachelor
of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies degree for
Early School
Education:
- Satisfy all university requirements for a bachelors degree
as found in the section, UNIVERSITY DEGREE REQUIREMENTS FOR
EARLY SCHOOL EDUCATION, in the
catalog.
- Lower Division:
- A combined total of 6 semester hours in natural sciences
(biology, chemistry, geology and/or physics; a combination
is preferred), one of which must have a lab.
- 3 semester hours of mathematics as required by the university
core requirements, selected from college algebra, finite,
trigonometry, analytic geometry, or calculus
- 3 semester hours in fundamentals of speech.
- 18 semester hours in the academic concentrations and
specializations including 12 hours of TECA (Texas Early
Childhood Articulation) courses.
- Lower or Upper Division:
- 3 semester hours of a computer proficiency course.
- Upper Division:
- ENG 3430, Professional Writing
- 12 semester hours of core distribution electives in the humanities and social sciences area.
- 27 semester hours in the academic concentrations and specializations.
- 24 hours of professional education including 9 semester hours of student teaching.
