PUBL 6305:     

Publishing Internship
Cr. 3. (3-3-0).
This course must be taken for two semesters for a total of six hours. The internship will serve as a capstone experience for student, a practical application in a professional environment which will gather together and apply skills and concepts learned during coursework leading to the M.S. in Publishing degree.

PUBL 6310:

Introduction to Publishing
Cr.3. (3-3-0) Prerequisites: Admission to the MS Publishing program.
A historical overview of the origins, development, and current practices of publishing.

PUBL 6312:

Publication Design
Cr.3. (3-3-0). Prerequisites: PUBL 6310 Introduction to Publishing, or instructor approval.
Students will learn the aesthetics and skills necessary to design a variety of publications.

PUBL 6314:

Legal Environment of Publishing & Contracts
Cr.3. (3-3-0). Prerequisites: Instructor approval and PUBL 6310 Introduction to Publishing.
Students will learn the legal matters necessary to become a successful publisher or employee in the publishing industry.

PUBL 6316:

Style and Editing
Cr.3. (3-3-0). Prerequisites: PUBL 6310 Introduction to Publishing, or instructor approval.
Designed to teach students the requisite editorial skills necessary for success in the publishing industry.

PUBL 6318:

Digital Publishing
Cr.3. (3-3-0). Prerequisites: PUBL 6310 Introduction to Publishing, PUB 6312 Publication Design, PUB 6316 Style and Editing.
Students will study the professional details of the current publishing industry.
