The UHV Center for Nonprofit Leadership embraces an interdisciplinary approach designed to provide a broad-based perspective on nonprofit leadership and community service. The Center and the UHV School of Arts and Sciences offer specialized undergraduate and graduate academic courses and professional workshops on topics related to the nonprofit sector such as board and organizational leadership, marketing, fund-raising, volunteerism, human development, and fiscal management. The certification process also provides practical, hands-on experience through optional internships.

Nonprofit Leadership programs include:

  • Undergraduate Minor and Certification

  • Graduate MAIS Concentrations and Certification

  • Basic and Advanced Professional Certification

  • Certification Continuance and Renewal

All UHV students, regardless of major, who are interested in a career in the nonprofit sector or who want to make a difference through community service are eligible to join in the work and certification programs of the Center. Students interested in any of the programs should consult with the Center’s manager or the nonprofit leadership faculty advisor for application and advising procedures. The program is designed in a flexible manner that allows students from all degreed programs to pursue certification as a complement to their major coursework.
