DRAM 1310:     Introduction to Theatre

Cr. 3.0 (3-3-0). Prerequisite(s): TSI Complete in Reading.
Survey of theatre, including its history, dramatic works, stage techniques, production procedures, and relation to other art forms.

DRAM 1351:     Acting I

Cr. 3.0 (3-3-0). Prerequisite(s): TSI Complete in Reading.
Introduction to the basic theories, styles, and methods of acting. This includes increased sensory awareness, ensemble performing, character analysis, and script analysis.

DRAM 1352:     Acting II

Cr. 3.0 (3-3-0). Prerequisite(s): Completion of DRAM 1351 Acting I or instructor permission.
Study of theories, styles, and methods of acting. This includes increased sensory awareness, ensemble performing, character analysis, and script analysis. Strong emphasis on character development. Includes working with departmental productions.

DRAM 2351:     Acting III

Cr. 3.0 (3-3-0). Prerequisite(s): Completion of DRAM 1351 Acting I or DRAM 1352 Acting II or instructor permission.
Continued study of theories, styles, and methods of acting for movies and television. Strong emphasis on character development. Includes working with departmental productions.

DRAM 2352:     Acting IV

Cr. 3.0 (3-3-0). Prerequisite(s): Completion of DRAM 2351 Acting III or instructor permission.
Advanced study of theories, styles, and methods of acting for movies and television. Strong emphasis on character development. Includes working with departmental productions.

DRAM 2366:     Intro to Cinema 

Cr. 3. (3-3-0). Prerequisite(s): TSI complete in Reading and Writing or a grade of “C” or better in ENGL 1300.
Emphasis on the analysis of the visual and aural aspects of selected motion pictures, dramatic aspects of narrative films, and historical growth and sociological effect of film as an art.

DRAM 3250:     Drama Practicum I

Cr. 2.0 (2-2-0). Prerequisite(s): Permission of instructor and Junior status.
Students will, based on the assignment of their instructor, participate in the production of a dramatic project. Projects could include acting, directing, producing, or other work as assigned.

DRAM 3251:     Drama Practicum II

Cr. 2.0 (2-2-0). Prerequisite(s): DRAM 3250 Drama Practicum I
Students will, based on the assignment of their instructor, participate in the production of a dramatic project. Projects could include acting, directing, producing, or other work as assigned.

DRAM 3311:     Shakespeare

Cr. 3.0 (3-3-0). Prerequisite(s): 3.0 semester hours in sophomore literature or instructor's permission.
Study of selected works of Shakespeare. Cross-listed with ENGL 3311.

DRAM 3317:     Contemporary Drama

Cr. 3.0 (3-3-0). Prerequisite(s): 3 semester hours in sophomore literature or instructor's permission.
Study of the elements of drama, dramatic theory, aesthetic movements, and methods of interpretation. Crosslisted with ENGL 3317.

DRAM 3320:     History of the Theatre

Cr. 3.0 (3-3-0). Prerequisite(s): Sophomore standing.
This course is an investigation of the history of the dramatic arts. Topics will include how the theatre has been influenced by society, how society influences the theatre, and how non-European cultures have treated the dramatic arts. Crosslisted with HUMA 3320.

DRAM 3328:     Screenwriting

Cr. 3.0 (3-3-0). Prerequisite(s): ENGL 2313 or instructor's permission.
Study in and practice of writing and critiquing screenplays and adaptations. Conducted in a writing workshop setting. Crosslisted with ENGL 3328.

DRAM 4250:     Drama Practicum III

Cr. 2.0 (2-2-0). Prerequisite(s): DRAM 3251 Drama Practicum II
Students will, based on the assignment of their instructor, participate in the production of a dramatic project. Projects could include acting, directing, producing, or other work as assigned.

DRAM 4300:     Selected Topics in the Dramatic Arts

Cr. 3.0 (3-3-0). Prerequisite(s): Sophomore standing.
Specific focus on a selected topic in drama, theatre and/or the performing arts. Topics vary by instructor. May be repeated when topics vary.

DRAM 4328:     Advanced Screenwriting Workshop

Cr. 3.0 (3-3-0). Prerequisite(s): ENGL 2313 and 3328.
Continued and intensive practice in Screenwriting in a workshop setting with the aim of preparing manuscripts for potential publication. Crosslisted with ENGL 4328.

DRAM 4360:    Senior Project

Cr. 3.0 (3-3-0). Prerequisite(s): DRAM 4250 Drama Practicum III and Senior status.
Senior students will, based on the assignment of their instructor and their own experience, participate intimately the production of a dramatic project. Projects could include acting, directing, producing, or other work as assigned.
