AMST 6300:     Special Topics in American Studies

Cr. 3. (3-3-0). 
Courses under this title will introduce MAIS American Studies students to more specialized and specific topics relevant to the field of American Studies.

AMST 6310:     American Philosophy

Cr. 3. (3-3-0).  
Introduces MAIS American Studies students to major issues and trends in American Philosophy.

AMST 6311:     Studies in Popular Culture and Technology

Cr. 3. (3-3-0). 
Introduces MAIS American Studies students to major issues and trends in the study of popular culture and technology in the United States.

 AMST 6312:     Studies in Gender and Sexuality in America

Cr. 3. (3-3-0). 
Introduces MAIS American Studies students to major issues and trends in the study of sexuality and gender in the United States.

AMST 6313:     Studies in Ethnicity, Race and Nationality in America

Cr. 3. (3-3-0).
Introduces MAIS American Studies students to major issues and trends in the study of ethnicity, race, and nationality in the United States.

AMST 6314:     Modern, Social, Political, and Cultural History:  1600-1865

Cr. 3. (3-3-0).  
Introduces MAIS American Studies students to the social, political, and cultural history of the U.S. from 1600-1865.  This course will be taught not as a history course, but as an interdisciplinary course that pays attention to the cultural factors of the time.

AMST 6315:     Modern, Social, Political, and Cultural History:  1865-present

Cr. 3. (3-3-0).  
Introduces MAIS American Studies students to the social, political, and cultural history of the U.S. from 1865 to the present.  This course will be taught not as a history course, but as an interdisciplinary course that pays attention to the cultural factors of the time.

AMST 6316:     Methods in American Studies

Cr. 3. (3-3-0).  
This course introduces students to the methodology of researching, analyzing sources, and writing papers in the field of American Studies.
