Black History Month

In February, UHV observed National Black History Month with on-campus exhibits and special community events. Along with the Cultural Council of Victoria, The Victoria College, and the Black History Steering Committee, UHV cosponsored events such as the Black History Month Parade, the Black History Heritage Festival, and a Black History poster contest for area fifth-grade students.

5th Grade Poster Contest

The University of Houston-Victoria participated in the observance of Black History Month by cosponsoring a poster contest that was open to all public, private and home-schooled fifth-grade students. The Black History Steering Committee, The Cultural Council of Victoria, and The Victoria College also sponsored this event.

Each participating school selected 10 poster contest finalists that were judged in the final competition. The posters were then displayed at UHV in the University Center Building during the month of February for public viewing. (2008 photo gallery).
