UHV alumna recommends university to sister

Stephanie Hermes has it on good authority that the University of Houston-Victoria is a quality university: Her sister, Jaime Hermes, is a UHV alumna who now works as a pre-kindergarten teacher in Schulenburg.

“She told me that the classes are small, and the professors are really nice,” said Hermes, who recently graduated from Hallettsville High School.

Hermes attended UHV’s first-ever freshman orientation on June 23 and plans on following in her sister’s footsteps at the university. She hopes to one day become a teacher.

Hermes played the clarinet in her high school band for four years and was captain of the color guard for two years. She also was involved with the Science Club, National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America.

“I’m looking forward to meeting everyone in the fall,” she said.
