Graduates of the University of Houston-Victoria can enjoy a free baseball game at 6 p.m. Saturday when the UHV Jaguars take on the LSU-Alexandria Generals as part of UHV Alumni Day at Riverside Stadium.
“This is our gift to the members of our extended UHV family,” said Amy Mundy, UHV’s director of annual giving who oversees alumni relations. “It’s a great way to get all of us together to have a good time and celebrate our alma mater.”
Alumni who renew their annual memberships, a $25 value offered free at the event, to the UHV Alumni Association also will get a complimentary ballpark dinner of a hotdog, chips and a drink. In addition, first-time members will receive a free T-shirt.
Returning graduates will be invited to the President’s Hospitality Tent and have the opportunity to win door prizes.
UHV Alumni Association members enjoy benefits, including networking opportunities, alumni scholarships, and access to continuing education benefits. Members also gain access to UHVConnect, the university’s social networking site through which members can join special interest groups, find out about available jobs in Texas, read and post comments to blogs, purchase UHV merchandise and much more.
To take advantage of the free admission to the baseball game, alumni should bring the post card invitation recently mailed to them. Those who didn’t receive a post card or no longer have it can still get in free by calling Anna Celum at 361-570-4306 to RSVP.
Regular admission to the game is $5 for adults, and $3 for students 12 and up. Children 11 and under get in free with the purchase of an adult ticket. UHV faculty, staff and students get in free with a valid school ID.
