Members of the public can review and give feedback about textbooks under consideration for state adoption at The Victoria College/University of Houston-Victoria Library from now through August.
“Residents and educators are encouraged to give their input as part of the review process,” said Joe Dahlstrom, director of libraries for UHV and VC.
The book subject areas are Language Arts (Grades K-1), Reading (Grades K-8), Literature (Grades 6-12), English for Speakers of Other Languages, and Advanced Placement English Language and English Literature. A decision on the texts will be made in November for use during the 2010-2011 school year.
The materials are available on the first floor of the library, 2602 N. Ben Jordan St., from 7:45 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Sample books also are available for viewing at the Region III Education Service Center, 905 Leary Lane, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
