UH System at Sugar Land Hosts Career Fair

Even though graduation may be months away, it’s never too early to start thinking about a career. Students of the University of Houston (UH) System at Sugar Land will have a chance to put this good advice into practice at the first career fair of the year Thursday, September 22, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Victims of Hurricane Katrina who have relocated to Texas are also invited to join UH System students to take advantage of this opportunity to meet prospective employers from the surrounding area.

To help students prepare for the event, the UHSSL Career Services Office hosted two workshops on September 8. Titled “How

to Work a Career Fair,” the workshops gave tips on resume writing, interview skills and appropriate business attire.

Employers attending the career fair include the Texas Department of Criminal Justice; Corporate Staffing; the city of Sugar Land; IMG Financial Group Inc.; Melton & Melton LLP; Glaw, Londergan & O’Neal LLP; Fort Bend County and the Work Source. Students should be ready to meet these employers, dressed in their interview clothes with a current resume in hand.

Chamal Reyes of the Career Services Office says this career fair “will be a great opportunity for both students and employers to network and create a connection between the academic and business communities.”
