Victoria residents can find out more about the University of Houston-Victoria/American Book Review Spring Reading Series when the regional National Public Radio affiliate airs an interview on Friday.
The five-minute interview with Jeffrey Di Leo, ABR editor/publisher and dean of the UHV School of Arts & Sciences, will air at about 12:20 p.m. during the “Victoria Arts” segment on KVRT-FM 90.7 in Victoria.
The interview will highlight the Spring Reading Series, which begins Jan. 22 with poetry critic and author Marjorie Perloff. She is scheduled to speak at noon in the Alcorn Auditorium of UHV’s University West building, 3007 N. Ben Wilson. Her free talk, “Why Teach Literature Anyway,” is open to the public.
Other authors scheduled to speak during the spring semester are:

- John O’Brien, March 12
- Zulfikar Ghose, April 2
- Ana Castillo, April 30
ABR is a nonprofit, internationally distributed literary journal that is published six times a year. It began in 1977, moved to UHV in 2007 and now has a circulation of about 8,000. The journal specializes in reviews of works published by small presses.
