UHV Gamma Beta Phi chapter inducts new members

SUGAR LAND Ė The University of Houston-Victoria chapter of the Gamma Beta Phi Society honor and service organization recently inducted 46 new members.

Gamma Beta Phi

Chapter President John White, a senior business major with a focus in healthcare administration, greeted the new inductees and introduced various presenters at the University of Houston System at Sugar Land, where UHV offers many of the programs. Several Gamma Beta Phi officers recited the Coat of Arms, Code of Ethics, and the objectives, expectations and retention standards of the society.

David Satava, a UHV business professor and the chapterís adviser, reflected on the organization and the importance of a personís character. The guest speaker was Dick Phillips, UHSSL associate vice chancellor.

The new inductees were formally initiated by reciting the membership pledge given by White. Simultaneously, at UHVís campus in Victoria, Vice President Rick Navarro and Interim Secretary Christy Esse inducted 18 new Gamma Beta Phi members. After the ceremony, the new members and their families went to a reception held in their honor. This was an opportunity for the inductees to get acquainted with current members.

To be eligible for the Gamma Beta Phi Society, students must be enrolled in a UHV degree program, have completed at least 12 credit hours of course work with a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher, and be committed to excellence in education, good character and service.
