University of Houston-Victoria student and African adventurer Karalyn Jones will be the guest of an hour-long "Sunday Night" special at 6 p.m. July 6 on radio station KSBJ.
To celebrate, UHV is inviting the public to listen to the show and enjoy a 10 percent discount from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Starbucks, 1301 E. Rio Grande, in front of H-E-B.
At the listening party, fans can read Jones' blog entries from Africa and post comments on UHV laptops, courtesy of Starbucks' wi-fi.
"With so many people interested in Karalyn and this amazing adventure she's on, we thought it would be great to bring people together to share the experience," said Nancy Gresham, UHV special events coordinator.
Jones prerecorded the interview with host Anne Badger before departing earlier this month for Uganda, a war-torn country in the eastern part of the continent. Jones is working with an aid organization to help teach students while she conducts research about the country's education system.
Anyone can listen to the broadcast at 6 p.m. July 6 on local affiliate KXBJ 89.3 FM. They can follow Jones' adventures on her live blog at www.uhv.edu/jonesjourney.
