Be a Part of Black History Month

Be a part of a 19-year tradition of celebrating Black History Month in Victoria. The Victoria Black History Steering Committee needs local residents and groups to join the annual Black History Month Parade and Festival on Feb. 9.

Musical performers, drill teams, praise teams, poetry readers, orators, comedians, thespians and other entertainers are invited to participate. Also welcome are floats, displays and other treats for the eye. All entries for this family-friendly environment must be approved by the committee.

The festivities open at 10 a.m. with a parade from Patti Welder Magnet Middle School, 1500 E. North St., to the Victoria Community Center, 2905 E. North St. The Black History Month Festival will begin immediately after in the Victoria Community Center Annex and continue until 4 p.m.
