Jaguars baseball coach Terry Puhl announced the signing of
a pitcher and an outfielder on July 31. Pitcher Colter Zoch will transfer from the University of Arkansas-Monticello. Outfielder Michael Prestera joins the Jaguars after a season at Richland College.
Colter—a LaGrange, Texas native—compiled a record of 5-9 this past season for a team that went 6-42 overall. He started 14 games, appeared in 17 and struck out 62 in 76 innings of work.
"Colter will anchor the starting rotation, " said Puhl. "He is the maverick of the staff and can keep his performance at a high level."
Puhl had this warning for Jaguars fans: “Be sure not to miss any of Colter’s starts.”
As a red-shirt freshman, Prestera tied a Richland College school record of 34 steals in a season. Prestera was only caught stealing 4 times all season.
“Michael will see action at the top of the order. His speed should put pressure on the opposition,” said Puhl. “His speed will serve him well patrolling Riverside Stadium’s spacious centerfield.”
