UHV MASO to Host Membership Drive

The Mexican American Student Organization at the University of Houston-Victoria will host a membership drive on Friday, March 2, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in the Alcorn Auditorium on the UHV campus, 3007 N. Ben Wilson, in Victoria.

The event—which will feature a viewing of the Academy Award® nominated movie “The Motorcycle Diaries”—will highlight the service and social opportunities available through MASO. All interested individuals are invited to attend the free event.

“MASO is a great organization that helps raise funds for citizens and provides service hours within our community,” said Yolanda Gonzales, student president for MASO. “Our goal is to promote the general, social, economic, cultural and educational advancement of Hispanic Americans.”

Members of MASO participate in various campus and community events to strengthen their leadership abilities. The program supports UHV students as they transition from academics to their professional careers.

“I’m pleased to see MASO take such an active role in supporting UHV and our communities,” said UHV President Dr. Tim Hudson. “I applaud these students’ efforts to not only help their neighbor but to increase their skills in the process.”

Standard membership dues for MASO will be waived at the event. Membership is open to all UHV students currently enrolled in at least three semester credit hours.

For more information on the MASO membership drive, contact event organizer Alma Alvarado, at (361) 570-4113.
