UHV Professor Re-elected TCEA Area 3 Director

Dr. Dennis R. Riedesel, Associate Professor of Education at the University of Houston-Victoria, was re-elected by the Texas Computer Education Association as Area 3 Director. He was elected by a majority of TCEA members in early February and will serve his second, two-year term beginning April 1.

Dr. Riedesel will be responsible for TCEA activities and events in TCEA Area 3, which corresponds to Texas ESC Region III. He will also serve on the TCEA Board of Directors, which, along with other elected officers, governs the association.

“We are proud of Dr. Riedesel and his willingness to take a leadership role in working with educators who have similar goals,” said School of Education Dean Dr. John Stansell.

“Being on the forefront of new technologies is vital for student success not just at UHV but for higher education in general,” said UHV President Dr. Tim Hudson. “Dr. Riedesel is an excellent example of how UHV professors go the extra-mile to ensure their curriculum incorporates 21st century advances.”

Dr. Riedesel has served as the TCEA Area 3 Director since 2004 and on the Tech Team for the TCEA conference for the last 12 years. At UHV, he has served as a professor, Director of Field Experiences, and ExCET (Examination for the Certification of Educators in Texas) Coordinator.

He holds a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston, a master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Houston-Victoria, and a bachelor’s degree in Education from Southwest Texas State University.

“It is an honor to have been re-elected by my fellow TCEA colleagues to serve as Area 3 Director,” said Dr. Riedesel. “I look forward to serving in this capacity once again.”
