Three members of the University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars softball game were named to the Association of Independent Institutions all-conference softball team on Wednesday night in San Marcos, Calif.
Junior pitcher Emily Bergstrom (El Campo), senior first baseman Courtney Pettit (Deer Park) and junior utility player Kelly King (Delta, British Columbia, Can.) earned the recognition during the A.I.I. softball awards banquet.

Bergstrom is 19-5 on the season with a 1.65 ERA and has twice been named the A.I.I. weekly female athlete of the week and was also named the NAIA Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 18. She threw UHV’s first perfect game that week in a win over Huston-Tillotson and has seven shutouts and 16 complete games this season.

Pettit leads the team with a .404 batting average along with 119 total bases, nine home runs, 20 doubles and a .669 slugging percentage.
King has compiled a .378 batting average and has nine doubles, two triples, two home runs, 25 RBI, 23 runs scored and a .538 slugging percentage.
Central Baptist College second baseman Christen Kirchner was named the A.I.I. Conference Player of the Year and Cal State San Marcos pitcher Brenna Sandberg was named A.I.I. conference Pitcher of the year.
