New UHV political science bachelor’s to start in fall

University of Houston-Victoria undergraduates interested in careers in law or politics can major in the university’s new political science degree in the fall.

The UHV School of Arts & Sciences is starting a Bachelor of Science in political science. The 120-credit-hour program aims to provide students with the foundation, skills and knowledge that are valuable in many different professions.

UHV SBDC prepares for Leadercast Victoria broadcast

Victoria-area business owners, managers and staff members will have the chance to listen to some famous international voices including Malala Yousafzai and Rudy Giuliani at this year’s Leadercast.

The worldwide leadership conference is a full-day live simulcast from Atlanta. The Victoria simulcast is hosted by Parkway Church and coordinated by the University of Houston-Victoria Small Business Development Center in partnership with the UHV School of Business Administration.

Megan Kruse said her drive to write comes from a desire to live other people’s lives.

“I always felt kind of cheated that I was born into only one life,” she said. “I would love to transport someone to another world. How I can do that is through description in my writing.”

MBA student earns Mrs. Sugar Land crown

A University of Houston-Victoria graduate student has earned a sash and a crown in the preliminary level of the Mrs. America pageant.

Jimaniece Ware Berry, a Master of Business Administration student in the UHV School of Business Administration, is the new Mrs. Sugar Land and will compete in the Mrs. Texas pageant next month. This was the second pageant she had entered, and her platform promotes breast cancer awareness.

UHV graduate student publishes crime story in anthology

When University of Houston-Victoria graduate student Bob Lynch needed inspiration for a short story, he turned to personal experience from a nighttime trip to a Chinese buffet.

Now his fiction story, “The Hero,” which originally was an assignment for a creative writing graduate class at UHV, will be published in the “Eclectically Criminal” anthology by Inklings Publishing in Houston.
