UHV to begin offering classes, labs at Victoria downtown Kreisle Building

University of Houston-Victoria students soon will be heading downtown to take art and design classes, work on digital projects, meet with faculty members and display their creations.

The new UHV Center for the Arts will be housed in the Kreisle Building, 204 N. Main St. The UHV School of Arts & Sciences will use the 5,500-square-foot facility for new art and design courses.

Tejano musicians, scholars to visit UHV for de León Symposium

KQQK was Houston’s leading Spanish-language radio station during the 1990s. The station played strictly Tejano music, a particular form of music developed by Texans of Mexican descent in the early 20th century.

“Tejano Music: A Texas History” is the theme of the 28th annual Martin de León Symposium on the Humanities at the University of Houston-Victoria. This year’s event will feature two musicians and two music scholars. The free public event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon Sept. 13 in the UHV University Center Multi-Purpose Room, 3007 N. Ben Wilson St.

IRS to present business tax updates at UHV meeting

The IRS is coming to Victoria, and it’s for a good cause.

To make sure area businesses have the most relevant tax information, the University of Houston-Victoria Small Business Development Center has invited the Internal Revenue Service to hold a meeting Sept. 16 in Victoria.
