AMERICAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) develops and publishes safety codes and standards for elevators. ASME A17.4-1999, Guide for Emergency Personnel, includes Part 1 – Evacuation Procedures and Part II – Firefighters’ Service Operating Procedures approved by the American National Standards Institute and issued by ASME. The index of the Guide lists ASME publications of interest to elevator code users.
The current edition of this Guide is filed in the Safety & Risk Manager's office in the University West Building, Business Services Department, Suite 107 in the Risk Management file cabinet folder labeled Risk Management Elevator Protocol.
