Dr. Solansky is an Associate Professor of Management at the University of Houston-Victoria. She received her Ph.D. in Organization and Management Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She has taught many courses in Management including: organizational behavior, leadership, change management, organizational theory, principles of management, business communication, managing teams, organizational development, and contemporary issues in management. Her teaching is recognized with honors such as the Bloomberg Businessweek Teaching Award and a Certificate of Recognition for Exemplary Course Design.
Dr. Solansky's professional background includes: working as a purchasing agent in a public corporation; developing a database of free trade agreements for the International Trade Administration/U.S. Department of Commerce; consulting with many types of organizations on behavioral and strategic issues (Fortune 500, Department of Defense, small businesses, emergency responders, k-12 schools, etc); serving as a primary grant writer and director/coordinator for a multi-million dollar leadership professional development program in which over 1000 organizational administrators were trained across the state of Texas.
Dr. Solansky pursues the following research interests: leadership, teamwork, self-determination and decision-making, intra- and inter-organizational collaboration, complexity theory, qualitative and quantitative data analysis. She is an active member of the Academy of Management and is an award-winning author from the top journal in the management discipline. She has presented her research at the premier management conferences and has published in esteemed, peer-reviewed journals including: Academy of Management Journal, Administration & Society, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Leadership & Organizational Studies, Journal of Managerial Psychology, Leadership & Organization Development Journal, Leadership Quarterly and Non-Profit Management & Leadership. Her research is recognized with honors including: The Academy of Management Journal Best Paper Award; 2011 & 2012 Best Paper Proceedings Honor from AOM Annual Conference; 2012 AOM-MED Sage Junior Faculty Best Paper Award; Two of her articles have appeared on journal most cited lists: The Leadership Quarterly; the Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies.
Her service activities along with teaching and research have resulted in her being named the Partnership Professor of Organizational Management and the Department Chair of Management and Marketing.
