Dr. Olga Chapa is an Assistant Professor of Management in the School of Business at the University of Houston-Victoria. Prior to coming to UHV, she received her BBA, MBA, and PhD from the University of Texas-Pan American.
Dr. Chapa's teaching interest encompasses a variety of management areas. She has taught courses in Strategic Methods for Business, Business Government and Society, Organizational Theory, and Principles of Management. Her primary research focus is based on aligning job requirements with gender and the social and cultural needs of female college graduates. Dr. Chapa's extensive research on gender roles, social support, and cultural factors influencing human behavior within the organizational context, earned her an Emerald/EFMD Highly Commended Dissertation Award in 2009.
Dr. Chapa's additional research also strongly supports her interest in the implementation of well-being programs that focus on emergency responders. This significant research extends to the validation and purification of an instrument intended to measure bravery, a work she authored and presented at the Western Academy of Management National Conference. Significant contributions include her work on corruptive behavior in the form of infringement of intellectual property rights in China that was published in an international business journal.
In addition to her teaching and research, Dr. Chapa has an extensive record of professional and community service. She has served as a reviewer for several international conferences and is currently serving on the Crossroads Commission on Education Committee, Perpetual Hope Home, The Academy of Management, and The Organizational Behavior Teaching Society. She is also the faculty advisor for the MASA student organization at UHV. |
