Message from Dean Charles A. BullockIt has become cliché to say that the world is moving faster and getting smaller. Evolutions in politics and market conditions combined with almost daily changes in technology have drawn all of us closer together, both in collaboration and in competition. To meet the critical needs for effective collaboration and successful competition, managers today need not only traditional business skills, but also an education that prepares them to adapt to an ever-changing environment. Thus, the University of Houston-Victoria’s School of Business Administration is open to change and quick to respond to emergent issues. We are committed to creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement. We are conscientious about building and maintaining an atmosphere characterized by respect, collaboration, and collegiality. Most of all, we embrace an educational culture that places students at the center of the learning process and equips them for life-long learning. For several years, we have offered bachelor’s and master’s programs designed to prepare managers to meet the challenges which characterize today’s business world. Applied, real-world programs provided through state-of-the-art delivery methods on flexible schedules ensure that UHV’s business students can prepare themselves for the opportunities of the future without putting the lives they lead today on hold. This year, as we continue to review our existing programs to ensure their ongoing excellence, we are also working on expanding our programs to address emerging needs in our community. The Healthcare Administration concentration for the Bachelor of Business Administration degree, if approved, will provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to manage healthcare facilities successfully, and will ensure that local health employers have a qualified pool from which to hire managers. The Master in Economic Development and Entrepreneurship will support the economic development of our region, and indeed perhaps all of Texas, by educating community leaders (and future leaders) in methods for attracting established business to an area, as well as promoting new business. Finally, the Global MBA and other international outreach efforts will provide our stateside students with greater exposure to the global marketplace. On behalf of the faculty and staff, welcome to the University of Houston-Victoria School of Business Administration. Regards, Charles A. Bullock, JD, LLM, MBA |
