Because the MBA Case Conference is intended to be a professional conference experience, we discourage participants from bringing guests (other than current MBA students), significant others, or children. If you are traveling with family or friends for the conference, Sugar Land is a great place for them to spend the day sight-seeing or shopping.
When you arrive Saturday morning you will need to check in. Event staff will have you sign in, and will give you a nametag, event schedule, conference gift, and other items. Once you have checked in, you should wear your nametag at all times.
Practice rooms will not be available on the day of the conference. Please make arrangements to rehearse your presentation with your team prior to your arrival on Saturday.
Out of fairness to your fellow participants, do not observe another team’s presentation unless you have already completed your presentation.
Unless you are a member of the team presenting, you may not enter a presentation room late for any reason.
Come to the presentation room ten minutes before you present to set up. We will provide IBM-compatible computers with Microsoft PowerPoint loaded, as well as LCD projectors, in each of the presentation rooms. You will not have Internet access from these computers. You will need to provide any additional equipment you need. Please bring two electronic copies of your presentation with you—one saved to a USB thumb drive, and one burned to CD. Beyond this, it’s a good idea for each member of the team to have at least one electronic copy of the presentation—that way if a member of your team is unavoidably detained or absent, you will still be able to start your presentation on time.
A good presenter always has a plan B in the event of equipment malfunction. Please consider bringing handouts or other visual aids so that any unforeseen equipment failure does not prevent you from making an effective presentation.
Your presentation time will be limited to twenty-five minutes, following which you will answer questions from the panelists for up to 25 minutes. Be prepared to answer any question pertaining to your presentation and to present any exhibits that may be called for. The maximum time allowed for the entire session will be fifty minutes in order to give the team following you sufficient time to set up for their presentation.
Your presentation may be attended by current MBA students who are not registered for the capstone, conference participants who have already presented, members of the UHV School of Business Administration Dean’s Business Advisory Council, and/or corporate representatives, in addition to your assigned faculty and alumni panelists.
You should bring two printed copies of your term project for the judges to review and five printed copies of your group presentation.
Our caterer is preparing a lovely menu for a limited number. Only presenters, panelists, and event staff will attend the luncheon.
If circumstances arise which make you unable to attend the MBA Conference during the semester in which you are registered in MGT 6359, you will either need to withdraw from the class or consult your instructor about the possibility of receiving a grade of Incomplete until you are able to participate in the conference.
