Suggested Headset
Microphones for Content Authors
We recommend that you use a headset microphone
instead of a desktop microphone in order to minimize
feedback noise when your microphone is on. Features for
headset microphones should include noise-canceling and
in-line volume and mute controls. You may purchase
headset microphones online or in-store through
electronics or office suppliers. Quality headset
microphones can be purchased for about $20 and use the
standard audio jacks. Sample brands include:
- Logitech Premium Stereo Headset (P/N 980369-0403)
[can
be purchased for <$20]
- Altec Lansing (AHS20)
- Plantronics (AUD60)
- Sony (DR-140UP)
You can also buy quality USB headset/microphones. They
usually start around $30. Examples are
- Logitech Premium USB Headset 350
- Plantronics (DSP500)
Depending on departmental policy, faculty and staff may be
able to request a headset microphone with departmental
funds.
