Check Your
Computer Readiness Online
We have created a self-paced technology
check meeting room to assist you with setting up your
computer for Breeze meetings that have audio. This meeting room will be open
24/7, so you can check it out anytime. This site does NOT
verify Breeze login (please see next section to test your
username and password). You only need to
visit this site once and then you should be ready for your
live meeting sessions. Once connected, please follow the
instructions on the slides in the meeting room.
Instructions to connect:
-
Modify any pop-up blockers to enable or
allow pop-ups for the site: breeze.uhv.edu
-
Make sure you have the Flash Player
plug-in installed on your computer. You can download the
latest version (free) from
http://www.adobe.com
-
Turn your speakers on/up.
-
Open your browser and go to
http://breeze.uhv.edu/easytechcheck/
-
Click the button to Enter as a Guest and
then type your first and last name in the space
provided. Click Enter.
-
The meeting room will open. Depending on
your connection speed, it may take a few minutes to load
the meeting room and contents.
-
Once the meeting room has loaded, adjust
your connection speed to match your internet connection.
Go to Meeting | My Connection Speed and choose either
Modem (for dialup), DSL (for DSL or cable), or LAN (for
office or school networks).
-
Click the Play ( |> ) button below the
slides to begin the presentation. You should hear the
audio begin playing.

Student Login to Breeze Meetings
This section provides information for meetings that require user
login to access. Some Breeze meetings will require registered user
login, while others will allow guest login. Your instructor or
meeting host will notify you of the login requirements.
Note that your Breeze usernames and passwords are NOT the same as
your WebCT username and password.
IMPORTANT! You must know your
UHV 7-digit UHV Student ID # (PeopleSoft ID) AND have previously logged
in to your UHV Student Email account BEFORE attempting to
log into a Breeze chat room for the first time. Your initial
login password is pre-expired and can only be changed when logging
in to your UHV student email account.
- All students are issued a UHV Student Email account
- Go to the UHV Student
Email Login page and follow the instructions there to login
to your email.
- When logging in to the email, you must type the
uhv\ before your 7-digit PeopleSoft student ID number, e.g., uhv\1234567
- Your initial password is your date of birth mmddyyyy
- Your initial password comes "pre-expired" which means
you will have to change it before doing anything else.
Follow the prompts on the screen.
- Password tips: use a minimum 8 characters; do not use
repeating numbers (e.g., 11112222); do not repeat a
previously used password
- Your password expires every 160 days
- If you need to have your password reset, you must
contact the Help Desk,
361-570-4888 (the Breeze support personnel cannot reset
passwords)
Test Your Breeze Login:
- Click this link to login to a sample Breeze chat room.
http://breeze.uhv.edu/testchatlogin/
- Type your UHV username and password
- username = 7-digit PeopleSoft student ID # (DO NOT type the uhv\ -
only the 7 numbers)
- password = same as your student email password (see
steps above)
- Upon successful login, a meeting room will open with a text
chat window and instructions to the left.
- If you cannot login (i.e., the login page refreshes but the
password field has been cleared), you have entered an incorrect
username and/or password. Verify that you can login to your UHV
Student Email first. If you can login to your student email, but
not the Breeze meeting room, contact Breeze support at
breeze@uhv.edu
Login to your course meeting room:
- Click the link provided by your instructor or type the URL
directly into your browser. Each meeting room will have a unique
web address.
- On the login page, type your UHV username and password.
- username = 7-digit PeopleSoft student ID # (DO NOT type
the uhv\ - only the 7 numbers)
- password = same as your student email password
(see steps above)
- For private course chat rooms - upon login you will
immediately enter the meeting room; for hosted meetings
- upon login you will wait for host or presenter to grant your
access into the room.
If you have any technical problems, please contact Breeze Support
at breeze@uhv.edu

Suggested Headset Microphones
Breeze Meetings allow voice-over-IP which means that
meeting presenters and participants can talk with each
other online in the meeting room. Due to the nature of
some meetings, only the presenter or host may have their
audio enabled. Check with your meeting host to determine
if the meeting will allow participants to use a
microphone during the meeting.
In a Breeze Meeting, you should only use
headset microphones instead of desktop microphones in order
to minimize feedback noise from your speakers when your
microphone is on. Features for
headset microphones should include noise-canceling and
in-line volume and mute controls. You may purchase
headset microphones online or in-store through
electronics or office suppliers. Quality headset
microphones can be purchased for about $20 and use the
standard audio jacks. Sample brands include:
- Logitech Premium Stereo Headset (P/N 980369-0403)
[can
be purchased for <$20]
- Altec Lansing (AHS20)
- Plantronics (AUD60)
- Sony (DR-140UP)
You can also buy quality USB headset/microphones. They
usually start around $30. Examples are
- Logitech Premium USB Headset 350
- Plantronics (DSP500)
