UHV Is Moving Towards A Single Account/Password Feature:

Dear UHV Student, Faculty, Adjuncts, and Staff:

1.       UHV is developing and moving towards a single account/password feature (no more having to remember different usernames and passwords for different systems).

2.       This new feature will allow UHV students to use their UHV Student ID (unique 7-digit number) and a single password to log into the following UHV systems. UHV faculty, adjuncts, and staff will use their UHV domain username (for example, doej as the username for Jane Doe) and a single password to log into the same UHV systems:

·         Blackboard system

·         Lab/Work computers

·         UHV E-mail (Outlook) from the UHV website

·         Library databases

3.       Existing UHV students can use their current UHV Student ID (unique 7-digit number) and UHV Student ID password to log into Blackboard, lab computers, student e-mail, and library databases. Your current UHV Student ID password is the same password you use to log into UHV lab computers or retrieve your UHV student e-mail. UHV faculty, adjuncts, and staff log into Blackboard with their UHV domain information (the same username and password used to log into their work computers, for example, doej as the username for Jane Doe).

4.       If your existing password has expired or you can’t remember it, you can use the UHV IDHelp website (https://idhelp.uhv.edu) to change your expired password or reset your password. If you have created password recovery information on the IDHelp website you can reset your password.

If you didn’t create password recovery information to reset your password from IDHelp and can’t remember your password, you’ll need to contact the UHV IT Help Desk at 361-570-4399 or 1-877-970-4848, X-399 (you can also visit the IT Help Desk in person; they’re located on the second floor of the University Center building on the UHV (Victoria) campus).

5.       If you haven’t already set up password recovery information on the IDHelp website, please do so by visiting the site at https://idhelp.uhv.edu and selecting the Setup Password Recovery Questions option. This allows you to reset your password for Blackboard, lab/work computers, student e-mail, and library databases via this IDHelp site should you forget your password in the future.

6.       Students new to UHV will have their UHV Student IDs (unique 7-digit number) assigned with an initial password in the mmddyyx! format (see details below). These students won’t be able to log into Blackboard, lab computers, student e-mail, or library databases until they visit the UHV IDHelp website (https://idhelp.uhv.edu), select the Change Existing Password option, and change their mmddyyx! password to something more secure. Select the View Password Policy option for more information about what kind of password you can use.

·         mm is your two-digit birth month

·         dd is your two-digit birth day

·         yy is your two-digit birth year

·         x is the first character of your last name in lowercase-letter format

·         ! (exclamation point—Shift + 1 on your keyboard for the ! symbol)

·         For example, if your birthdate is January 15, 1980, and your name is Jane Smith, then your initial password is 011580s!

New students who may have forgotten their UHV Student IDs (unique 7-digit number) can obtain this information via the following link: http://www.uhv.edu/student_solutions/BeginHere/FindPSID.aspx.

7.       All users should set up password recovery information on the IDHelp website at https://idhelp.uhv.edu by selecting the Setup Password Recovery Questions option. This allows you to reset your password for the above systems via this IDHelp site should you forget your password in the future.

8.       Passwords for the MyUHV system (Student Records System) are controlled separately through the MyUHV system. The procedures described above do not apply to the MyUHV system (Students Records System). Students who need help navigating the MyUHV system should review the information available from the UHV Student Solutions website at http://www.uhv.edu/student_solutions/.
