Chat and Whiteboard Tools:

On the course homepage, select Chat in the Course Tools menu. Click a chat room to enter it.

A Chat window will pop up as below, which usually have a whiteboard and a chatbox. However, in a specific session, the instructor may only display the whiteboard or the chatbox in a chatroom.

  1. Use the whiteboard to draw shapes, lines, type texts, and perform other tasks.
  2. Hide or show Whiteboard (The text on the button will switch between hide and show). The instructor may enable or disable the function for students.
  3. Select a desired Whiteboard function or tool in the tool panel.
  4. Load external files to display on the whiteboard. Save and print the whiteboard content.
  5. Use the chatbox to conduct online chat with the other participants in the chatroom.
  6. Hide or show the chatbox (The text on the button will switch between hide and show). The instructor may enable or disable the function for students.
  7. If the handraise function is enabled in a chatroom, click the button to “raise your hand” (remember when you need to raise your hand in a physical classroom?)
  8. View the participants’ names on the participant list. Double click a participant to launch a private chat room (private chat function may be disabled by the instructor.)
