Artist: Poet, Bookmaker, founder/director of Chax Press. Author of 5 full-length books of poetry and 10 brief chapbooks of poetry, editor of one critical work on the state of the book arts in America, author of multiple essays, articles, and reviews. Most recent books of poetry are Pushing Water, published by Cuneiform Press, and the chapbook Some Sentences Look for Some Periods, published by Little Red Leaves Press. Alexander has taught literature and writing at Naropa University, University of Arizona, and elsewhere. He is a recipient of the Arizona Arts Award, and he has been selected to participate in the TAMAAS Poetry Translation Seminars in Paris, France. Currently at work on Collected Essays and a new book of poetry. He is a former Executive Director of Minnesota Center for the Book Arts. He has lived most of the past 30 years in Tucson, Arizona, with his partner, the painter Cynthia Miller.
