Peer Writing Tutors

Academic Center writing tutors are peers who

  • have successfully completed ENG 3430 with an A or B, have demonstrated exceptional writing ability, or have earned a bachelor’s degree;
  • maintain a high GPA;
  • possess good written and oral communication skills; and
  • have been recommended by instructors.

They receive continued training throughout the semester. The Academic Center Manager and the Academic Center Coordinator review their work. For information about applying to become a peer tutor, visit our employment page for peer writing tutors.

Subject-Area Tutors

Academic Center subject-area tutors are peers who have demonstrated superiority in their subject area and have been recommended by instructors. They receive direction from faculty in the appropriate field. These tutors are typically available ten hours a week. Call the Academic Center at (361) 570-4288 for available hours.
