About the Academic
Center TutorsPeer Writing Tutors
Academic Center writing tutors are peers who
- have successfully completed ENG 3430 with an
A or B, have demonstrated exceptional writing ability, or have
earned a bachelor’s degree;
- maintain a high GPA;
- possess good written and oral communication skills; and
- have been recommended by instructors.
They receive continued training throughout the semester. The
Academic Center Manager and the Academic Center Coordinator review

Subject-Area Tutors
Academic Center subject-area tutors are peers who have demonstrated
superiority in their subject area and have been recommended by
instructors. They receive direction from faculty in the appropriate
field. These tutors are typically available ten hours a week.
