Use Electronic Databases Use Library Catalog Find Internet Sources Learn about Alternative Methods of Research

Use electronic databases.

The VC/UHV Library maintains over seventy different electronic databases. Each database catalogs hundreds of journals, newspapers, and books. Finding research on your chosen topic is but a few keystrokes away. With so many databases to choose from, finding the relevant one might seem difficult. However, our library organizes them to help guide you to the appropriate subject oriented database.

From the library homepage you can begin searching the databases by clicking on Choose Database by Name  or Choose Databases by Subject.

Choose Database by Name is an index of all the electronic resources available to you. If you have a preference for a particular database, you can find it here. If you know the name of the database you want to search but have forgotten how you originally found it, this page alphabetically lists all the databases of the VC/UHV library.

Choose Databases by Subject organizes the databases by scholastic discipline. For example, if you were researching information on a particular educational theory, you would use the databases listed under the ‘Education’ subject area. If you are not sure which database to choose, you should start with Choose Databases by Subject.

Many of the VC/UHV library databases use the same type of database interface to retrieve information. A database interface is simply a web page that you use to request article citations and/or full text articles from our library’s collection. Choose next to learn about the two most common kinds of interfaces in the VC/UHV Library collection of electronic databases.
