The Academic Center is a resource center for students, faculty, and staff. We promote student success by working closely with faculty to provide academic support programs. We offer a writing center for students and staff and a tutoring program for students at all levels in addition to supplemental instruction and testing. Our writing and tutoring services are delivered face-to-face and online in order to meet the demands of our diverse and widespread student population.
Writing Assistance. By appointment or online, the Academic Center's staff reviews class papers, articles for publication, and university publications. Face-to-face tutoring is available in Victoria. To find out how to have materials reviewed online, visit Online Tutoring.
Trained tutors review these documents, make suggestions for revision, and discuss techniques for analyzing and revising writing. Submit Documents Here!
Subject-Area Tutoring. In response to student or instructors’ requests, the Center also offers subject area tutoring in mathematics, computer science, and biology during some semesters. Students may discuss concerns related to courses that are in progress.
Testing Services. The Center also provides academic testing services in Victoria for UHV students (correspondence and entrance or placement exams) and on behalf of UHV faculty (makeup exams).
