My UHV Experience.
by Walter AnoruoVolunteering at Relay for Life
The weekend was decent as my UHV soccer teammates and I participated in the Victoria County Relay for Life. We talked about running in the event, but we didnt have enough time to fundraise.
Relay for Life is held every year to help raise money to fight cancer. With cancer being a major disease, this event is a big deal, and I think that it will get bigger in the future. My team and I split shifts to give a helping hand to the workers there. Some of the players from the Jaguars mens and womens soccer teams helped set up candles, coordinate traffic and clean up at the end of the event. My shift was traffic duty. The only thing that was bad about it was the sunny weather. It was for a good cause, so I didnt mind at all.
Knowing that my aunt and a friend in high school had cancer, I was willing to do whatever it took to make sure the event went smoothly. It was a great event, and I hope they made a lot of money from it. I also plan on donating money toward Relay for Life in the future.
In other issues, there are two more weeks until school is over and summer begins. Its a time Ive been waiting for, and Im sure my fellow students have been waiting for it, as well. The clock is ticking, and we get closer and closer as the days pass. Stay tuned.
