Spring 2011 Stepping Up to Supervisor Graduates
Fill out the application here.
Stepping Up to Supervisor is an eight-session program designed to enhance the skills of emerging or newly emerged supervisors and managers. The reward for hard work and mastering an individual’s job may be a promotion into a supervisory position. The accompanying responsibilities are sometimes overwhelming. This program is designed to address the concerns of aspiring and newly promoted supervisors, as well as those supervisors who work continually to update their skills.
The class sessions will begin in the Spring of 2012. These half-day sessions are designed to cover the nuts and bolts of being a supervisor. Coursework, discussions, role-playing and experiential exercises contribute to the mastery of the material. You must commit to attend each of these sessions, as a comprehensive agenda of effective supervisory techniques will be addressed. A timeline follows for dates and topics, allowing you to assess your ability to commit to the entire program
The Stepping Up to Supervisor program will be facilitated by Nancy Penry, Coordinator of Training and Development at UHV, with assistance from Ron Klinger, Assoc. Director Organizational Development at UH-Clear Lake, and Laura Smith, Director of Human Resources and Affirmative Action at the UHV.
For maximum effectiveness, the program is limited to 15 participants. This is a self application process, and your completed application does not guarantee acceptance into the program. Employees interested must submit an application form with the approval of their immediate supervisor.
Applications for participation in the Spring 2012 Stepping Up to Supervisor program are due by noon, January 6, 2012. Selected participants will be notified in January 2012.
