Notification of Payment Policy Change
This is a reminder that the University of Houston-Victoria will be implementing several changes to its payment policies which are necessary to better manage the growing costs of providing electronic payment options:
- Visa cards will no longer be accepted for tuition and fee payments.
- American Express cards will be added as a new payment option for your convenience.
- A 1.93% service fee, referred to in the credit card industry as a convenience fee, will be assessed on all credit/debit card payments for tuition and fees.
- MasterCard, Discover, and American Express payments for tuition and fees will be assessed a service fee of 1.93%.
Merchants are charged a fee for every credit/debit card payment processed. For many years, UHV has been absorbing these costs but will no longer be able to do so due to the increased popularity and use of online payment options and the rising costs associated in processing these transactions. The University of Houston-Victoria will continue to accept MasterCard and Discover, and will soon be accepting American Express branded cards for the payment of tuition and fees through MyUHV.
Other payment options include:
- Electronic check also known as e-check (no fee)
- Pay by check through the mail or in person at the Victoria campus (personal checks, money orders, and cashier’s checks)
- Tuition Loans (defers tuition and fee payment for 90 days; max service fee of 1.25%)
- Installment Plan (tuition & fees are paid in 3 installments; $20 service charge for this option)
