What to do if you forget your MyUHV password:

The very first time you log into one of the UHV systems (UHV Email, MyUHV, Blackboard, Library Databases), you will have an initial password in the mmddyyx! format, as follows:

  • mm is your two-digit birth month
  • dd is your two-digit birth day
  • yy is your two-digit birth year
  • x is the first character of your last name in lowercase-letter format
  • ! (exclamation point - Shift + 1 on your keyboard)

For example, if your birthdate is January 15, 1980, and your name is Jane Smith, then your initial password for Blackboard is 011480s!

The mmddyyx! initial password must be changed before you can login to UHV Email, MyUHV, Blackboard or Library Databases.

To change the password visit the UHV Password Self Service site. In your web browser go to this website: https://idhelp.uhv.edu

Click on "Change Existing Password." In the User Name field you will type in your 7-digit UHV STudent ID number. The Old Password is the default password mentioned above, "mmddyyx!" You will now create a new pasword.

Your new password must meet the following criteria:

  • The password is at least eight characters long.
  • The password contains characters from each of the following three categories:

    • Alphabetic characters, uppercase or lowercase (A – Z, a-z)
    • Base 10 digits (0 - 9)
    • Special characters: ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( )
  • The password cannot contain the user's account name or parts of the user's full name that exceed two consecutive characters.

Your password will expire 90 days from the date it was last changed.

Enter your new password in the "New Password" and "Retype New Password" fields and click on "Apply".

If successful, it will display "Your Password was changed successfully." If the password reset is not successful it will give you an error message on the page telling you what went wrong.

IDHelp - Setup Password Recovery Questions

Once you have successfully reset your password, click on "Return to home page." This will take you back to the UHV Password Self Service site. You will now click on "Setup Password Recovery Questions".

At the log-in, type in your User Name again (7-digit UHV Student ID number) and the new password you just set. You will now set your two password recovery questions and their responses. When you are finished press "Save" at the bottom right, then "Logout".

At this point you can now log into your UHV Student Email, MyUHV, Blackboard, Library Databases, and an on-campus computer with your UHV Student ID number and the Password you just set.

If you forget your password in the future, you can go to the UHV Password Self Service site and select "Reset Forgotten Password"

You can also change your password at any time by visiting the UHV Password Self Service site and selecting the Change Existing Password option.

If this is NOT your first time logging into a UHV system and you have forgotten your password, please see the following website for instructions: http://www.uhv.edu/it/Student/forgot_pass.aspx
