Parent Liaison Information

At times parents don’t have the information they need to interact with the university smoothly. The university recognizes the power good parents play in student lives and we want to partner with parents to capitalize on this power. Together with parents, we can accomplish a lot. Because the university wants to make sure that parents know who to take their concerns and issues to, the position of parent liaison was created to make it easy for parents to solve any concerns that arise. Ersilia Garcia, a graduate of UHV and a parent herself is now the new parent liaison. She is experienced and knowledgeable, is fluent in Spanish and works very well with students. She is now your single point of contact when communicating with the university. Ersilia will also be working on the following items:

The Parent Page on the UHV website has been revised so that the new focus is on parent’s needs and interests; however, it still provides important university information. The Parent Page also offers tips for dealing with transitions and tips for moving your child away from home. On the Parent Page, you will also find a Suggestion and Comment Box so you can interact with us and let us know what you like and what you would like to change.

Each spring and fall, we’ll be publishing Parent Newsletters with new columns and features of particular interest to parents, so watch for them and learn about current activities and new initiatives at the university.
